circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.97.317. 1.
Member to Agreement notifying: CHILE. If applicable, name of local
government involved (Articles 3.2 and 7.2). 2. Agency responsible:
Ministry of Health, Division of Environmental Health, Environment
Programmes Department. Agency or authority designated to handle
comments regarding the notification can be indicated if different from
above. 3. Notified under Article 2.9.2. 4. Products covered (HS or
CCCN where applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers
may be provided in addition, where applicable): Food for human
consumption. 5. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the notified
document: Food Health Regulations (141 pages, Spanish). 6. Description
of content: These Regulations establish the sanitary conditions for the
production, importation, processing, packaging, storage, distribution
and sale of food for human consumption. 7. Objective and rationale: To
protect the health and nutrition of the population and ensure a safe
and healthy food supply. 8. Relevant documents: Ministry of Health
Decree No. 977, Official Journal of 13 May 1997 (pages 3 to 32). 9.
Proposed date of adoption: The Regulations were adopted on 13 May 1997
but may be amended to take account of comments; Proposed date of entry
into force: 9 November 1997. 10. Final date for comments: 15 July 1997.
