Readjustment Counseling Service to eligible veterans referred by the Vet Center Staff members or professional staff members of VA Psychiatry, Social Work or Psychology Services. Readjustment Counseling, for the purposes of this contract, is counseling provided by social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, or other counselors, individually or in groups, specifically directed at social, psychological or behavioral problems encountered in daily life. Modalities of readjustment counseling may include individual, group and family counseling, all of which must address a primary goal and have as their central purpose the amelioration of disruption in readjustment to civilian life after military duty in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam Era, Panama, Lebanon, Granada, the Persian Gulf and Somalia. Such problems may interfere with a veteran's job performance, educational pursuits, interpersonal relations, or overall ability to cope with problems encountered in daily life. Modalities of readjustment counseling may include individual, group and family counseling, all of which must address a primary goal and have as their central purpose the amelioration of disruptions in the readjustment process after the above specified military duty. Medications and physical examinations are not to be considered a component of readjustment counseling services, and will not be provided under this contract mechanism; offerors must have the capability to arrange for, through referral, physical assessments; and medical treatment and therapy to provide such services. Period is for base year, plus one option year. The VA may award multiple contracts as a result of this solicitation if in the best interest of the Government.
