sources are being sought to provide all parts, labor, materials,
equipment, and transportation necessary to operate and maintain a
basewide recycling contract to help AAFB reach solid waste reduction
goals. Andersen generated 7,446 tons of solid waste in 1996 combined
industrial and residential of which AAB recycled 439 tons in 1996.
Andersen military family housing has 1400 units. There is a potential
to recycle over 630 tons of paper, cardboard, and aluminum according to
a 1994 recycling feasibility study conducted by Law Engineering.
Andersen plans to include contractor operation of a government owned
Recycling Center in the base recycling contract. The recycling Center
inside plan dimensions are 50 ft wide by 105 ft long and a clear height
of 20 ft. Two EX60-II, Glen L. DeHart & Son, Inc., horizontal balers
for volume reduction of cardboard, paper, aluminum, and plastic are
installed in the center. Interested parties must respond in writing by
