White, Code 3323, (301) 227-1078 The overall objective of this work is to develop a Rail-to-Ship Spreader Bar System. The contractor, August Design, Inc. of Merion Station, PA is presently developing a unique cargo container handling system, the Intelligent Spreader Mar (ISB) under contract N00167-95-C-0088. The current system is designed for use in a port as well as in the open ocean environment. This contract modification is to combine technologies recently developed under the Integrated Spreader Bar project with the industry state-of-the-art to provide a fieldable prototype for full scale evaluation at the Military Ocean Terminal at Sunny Point (MOTSU), North Carolina. The Rail-to-Ship Spreader Bar System can only be obtained from August Design, Inc. Current detailed knowledge of the system is required for the timely execution of these tasks. The Carderock Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center intends to award a sole source contract modification to August Design, Inc. in the amount of $360,000.00. See Note 22. (0191)
