R -- - NOTICE OF INTENT TO NEGOTIATE A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT WITH WDFW. Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract with the Washington Dept. of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW). The NOAA/National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) requires WDFW to estimate encounter rates of chinook and coho salmon for sport fisheries operating in ocean waters adjacent to Washington and marine waters of Puget Sound. WDFW will estiamte encounter rates for the 1997 fishing season, 8/97 -- 9/97. Encounters will be determined by species and, in cases where size limit regulations are in place, by size category. Encounter rates will be estimated as encounters per angler per time period. The WDFW is the only source that can provide estimates of salmon encounters since it is the sole authority in Washington state responsible for managing State fisheries, which are essential for completion of this contract. This is a simplified acquisition with a value of less than $100,000.
