to prospective bidders of an upcoming project which may be of interest
to general contractors, in accordance with FAR 5.101 (a) (1 When bid
packages become available, the plans and specifications will be
available for inspection at the following locations, as a minimum,
without charges: U.S. Property and Fiscal Office for Rhode Island,
Procurement Division, 330 Camp Street, Providence Rhode Island
02906-1954; Camp Fogarty Armory, 2841 South County Trail, East
Greenwich, Rhode Island, 02818; and the Rhode Island Army National
Guard Aviation Support Facility, Hangar 2,150 Airport Street, North
Kingstown, Rhode Island, 02852. The quantity of bid packages, when
available, will be limited. Therefore, sets of bid packages will be
given to general contractors only. Packages will also be available for
purchase, when they become available, directly from the printer. The
Scope of work will include, but not be limited to, the furnishing of
all labor, supervision, materials, equipment, and transportation
necessary for the construction of Project Number 440012, work to
include but not be limited to revamping the existing heated hangar,
installation of overhead infrared heaters, removal and legal disposal
of approximately 35,000 SF of existing roofing material, installation
of approximately 35,000 SF of new roofing, repair of existing hangar
doors, construction of interior washrack, concrete repair, interior and
exterior painting, new HVAC systems, construction of interior office
areas, new suspended ceilings, new vinyl flooring, underground site
utilities, miscellaneous carpentry, new metal siding, and other
associated items required to complete the specified renovation work.
The following Additive Bid Items (ABIs) will be included: (1) ABI #1 --
Substitute translucent panels in lieu of insulated steel sandwich
panels in hangar doors; (2) ABI #2 -- Demolition and replacement of an
exisiting concrete apron, size 20 ft X 200 ft X 6 in thick, (3) ABI #3
-- Provide the following renovation to the Cafeteria, Dining, and
Flight Simulator Rooms: new floor tile and base, paint all walls two
coats, new light fixtures and diffusers, new lay-in acoustical panels,
and new exposed "T" grid suspension system; (4) ABI #4 -- Remove
peeling paint and repaint with epoxy in one specific section of the
hangar; (5) ABI #5 -- Replace light fixtures in the hangar area with
new light fixtures. All work will be bid as one job. The Construction
Cost Range is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The IFB will be
available on or about July 29, 1997, with bid opening on or about
August 29, 1997. Telephone calls requesting bid packages will not be
accepted. Requests for bid packages may be faxed to 401-457-4305, or
mailed to the address indicated above. The anticipated contract
performance period is 240 calendar days. A bid guarantee will be
required. Performance and payment bonds will be required of the
successful bidder after contract award. This procurement is unrestriced
under the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program -- SIC
Major Group 15. The Standard Industrial Classification code for this
contracting opportunity is 1542 and the size standard is $17.0M. All
