The Government intends to purchase on a sole source basis six (6) each VMEbus SCRAMNet Network Cards, p/n H-AS-D6VME04M-20 and six (6) each Fiber Optic ST Connectors that are 10 meters in length, p/n H-PR-WST21001-0 from Systran Corporation, 4126 Linden Avenue, Dayton, OH 45432. These materials are being procured to be used in the MK160 Gun Computer System Upgrade Project which supports both the AEGIS and the Naval Fire Support Programs. These cards will be installed in various locations in the United States. With a different type of card a system architecture redesign would have to be undertaken. Also, compatibility and logistic support issues would adversely effect both the performance of the system and the ability to deliver to schedule. The Network Card was chosen to satisfy a number of real time execution requirements including the critical requirement of a deterministic low latency buffer transfer scheme. Systran Corporation is the sole provider of SCRAMNet Products. Award is to be under Simplified Acquisition Procedures reference quote N00178-97-Q-0125.
