The Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO), Office of the Secretary of Defense, plans to issue request for proposals (RFP) HQ0006-97-R-0010 on or about 1 August 1997 to conduct a competition and down select to a single contractor for the National Missile Defense Lead System Integrator (NMD LSI) Execution phase. The LSI Execution Phase contract is planned to be awarded in February 1998 and will be a three-year basic contract for NMD development with two options: (1) continued NMD development and (2) deployment and initial sustainment of the NMD system. The total contract duration (basic plus options) will not exceed 10 years. The RFP will be issued to the two LSI Concept Definition (CD) phase contractors: (1) Boeing North American, Inc., 12214 Lakewood Blvd., Downey, CA 90241 and (2) United Missile Defense Company LLC, 6801 Rockledge Drive, Bethesda, MD 20817.
