U.S. Department of Justice, Procurement Services Staff, National Place, Suite 1000, 1331 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20530

D -- MODIFICATION TO PREVIOUS SYNOPSIS REGARDING ONLINE BRIEF BANK TO SUPPORT LITIGATION EFFORTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE POC Douglas Redding, (202) 307-1962 This notice is to modify the synopsis issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ) that appeared in CBD Issue No. PSA-1879 dated July 2, 1997. In addition to including circuit court briefs in the private file brief bank addressed in the original synopsis, DOJ has determined that it also has a current need to include in the brief bank (1) briefs and memoranda filed by the Solicitor General's Office in the Supreme Court, and (2) a selection of filings from various DOJ components. DOJ intends to negotiate a modification to Contract No. 5C-N-JMD-0078 with West Publishing Corporation so that all of the above mentioned items are available as a private file collection accessible under DOJ's WESTLAW service. As stated in the original synopsis, a prototype brief bank will be developed for the 9th circuit and, if it is successful, the brief bank will be expanded nationwide. The 9th circuit prototype is to be operational during the month of September 1997. No solicitation is available since DOJ intends to negotiate a contract modification with West. The due date for replies to the Contracting Officer from any sources who want to be considered for this requirement is extended to 21 calendar days from the publication date of this modification to the original synopsis. Potential respondees must identify fully and completely their capabilities to fulfill the requirement addressed in the original synopsis and this modification. All inquiries should be directed to the Contracting Officer. (0191)
