Command (NAVAIR) intends to solicit offers for the development and
production of a replacement engine for the Pioneer Unmanned Air
Vehicle. The replacement engine must be a form, fit and function
replacement for the current Fichtel Sachs SF2-350 engine. The basic
characteristics of the Fichtel Sachs SF2-350 engine are as follows: air
cooled,two cycle,two horizontally opposed cylinders, 26.7 horsepower
and a core weight of 20.28 pounds. Increased performance and
reliability are highly desirable. NAVAIR intends to release the request
for proposal (RFP), any amendments and any questions/answers via the
Internet in Word 6.0 software. The documents will reside under the
Business and Solicitations heading of the NAVAIR home page, at
http://www.navair.navy.mil. Prospective offerors are responsible for
monitoring the home page for these documents. Paper copies will not be
