70 -- PUBLICATION COMPOSITION SOFTWARE POC Ms. Frances Toole, (301) 457-1831 REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) -- SOFTWARE PACKAGE FOR PUBLICATION COMPOSITION -- The U.S. Census Bureau, a leading publisher of statistical data products, seeks product information and vendor capabilities for a commercial off-the-shelf software package for publication composition and printing of complex statistical data and tables. Basic system requirements include: (1) the software must reside on the Census Bureau's UNIX or NT-based systems and have Oracle database support; (2) must have the capability to handle large volumes of publication-quality composed pages of complex statistical tables, including many-page tables with no upper limit of number of pages; (3) automatic hierarchical pagination based on table stubs; (4) automatic continuation of table titles, boxheads and table stubs; (5) the capability to compose running headers and footers; (6) the capability to compose runover lines with automated indentation as needed; and (7) the capability to produce PostScript and/or SGML output files. The system must be operational no later than 1998 and continue through 2003.
