70 -- GENERAL PURPOSE AUTOMATED DATA PROCESSING EQUIPMENT (INCLUDING FIRMWARE), SOFTWARE, SUPPLIES, AND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT SOL IA-2102-S7234748- Z DUE 073197 POC Karen S. Rose, Contract Specialist, (202) 205-9030 SOURCES SOUGHT -- The United States Information Agency, International Broadcasting Bureau seeks OEM sources of equipment capable of transmitting real-time AES/EBU digital audio signals over an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) fiber-optic digital data network. The Bureau is currently installing an ATM-based data network to serve approximately 1200 users at its Washington, D.C. headquarters and is converting its broadcast audio capture, editing, storage, and processing systems to digital technology using the AES/EBU standard. The Bureau desires to give each user the capability of selecting any one of up to 512 sources for monitoring at her/his desktop computer workstation, with the necessary digital-to-analog conversion being performed solely by contractor-supplied client software (no decoder hardware) running on government-furnished desktop computer equipment. The equipment sought must be capable of accepting one or more AES/EBU digital audio inputs, establishing user-initiated connections of the source( s) to the users' workstations via ATM, negotiating a quality of service contract over the ATM link, and permitting any number of ATM clients to access the same audio-over-ATM stream. ALL qualified manufactures of real-time AES/EBU audio-over-ATM transmitting equipment are requested to submit a written description of their corporate capabilities and compliant products to the USIA Contracting Officer at the above-listed address before the closing response date listed above. This notice is not a RFP. (0195)
