This project is to install four (4) boiler feedwater economizers, remove and replace existing continuous boiler blowdown heat recovery system at the Central Heating Plant, and to remove and replace high pressure steam traps in various buildings at Hanscom AFB, MA. The principle items of work include, but are not limited to: demolition of medium pressure (100 psig) steam and condensate piping, removal and replacement of high pressure steam traps, removal of continuous blowdown heat recovery system and associated controls, roofing work, piping, rigging, metal fabrication, structural steel, heat exchanging equipment, insulation, induced draft fans, associated electrical work and direct digital controls. Perspective contractors shall note that none of the four (4) boilers at the Central Plant shall be shut down for any reason during the months of October through April, inclusive. Acquisition of the Direct Digital Controls for this project shall be non-competitve to Southern Technologies, Inc. The contract shall be a Firm Fixed Price contract. This synopsis corrects the basic bid structure, periods of performance, magnitude of construction, and bid dates which were identified in the pre-solicitation notice dated 17 June l997. The basic bid shall consist of installation of two (2) feedwater economizers with options for installation of the two (2) remaining economizers, removal and replacement of the blowdown heat recovery system and replacement of steam traps. The magnitude of construction is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The period of performance for the basic bid is 330 calendar days. The periods of performance for the remaining two (2) economizers, removal and replacement of heat recovery system, and steam trap replacement are 330, 130, and 120 calendar days respectively. Performance periods for the options will run concurrently with the basic award. An exclusionary period is not required for this work. Tentative dates for issuing and opening of bids are 4 August l997 and 3 September l997.
