The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division(NAWCAD),Structures Division 4.3.3.1 at Patuxent River, MD plans to acquire on a sole source basis an organic Resin Based Thermal Barrier Coating System from Du Pont Lanxide Composites Inc. The purpose of this coating system is to eliminate the thermal degradation of exhaust impinged composite structures on the AV8B Harrier Aircraft. The scope of this effort is to evaluate the influence of; filler type, coating thickness, and cure temperature on the efficiency of the thermal barrier coating system as applied to representative AV8B structural components. The proposed action will be a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contract with an expected delivery date of 120 days after contract award. This contract will be negotiated as a sole source procurement under the statutory authority Federal Acquisition Regulation FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Meet the Agency's Requirements.
