IV: Packaging and Demonstration, A. Packaging, to the BAA 97-33
Proposer Information Pamphlet is restated as follows: The underwater
environment can be very harsh on electronic instrumentation of all
types. To produce an imager that is useful under these conditions,
packaging is required that is mechanically robust, insensitive to
corrosion, and lightweight and compact enough to be hand-held or
head-mounted on a diver (short-range imager). For long-range
applications, it should be insertable into an unmanned underwater
vehicle (UUV). Clearly, plastic materials are promising. But it is
recognized that the packaging technology will likely depend upon the
integration approach of Focus Areas I, II, and III above. Hence,
proposers who offer full sonoelectronic integration may want to
consider the packaging task as well. The time and date for submission
of proposal abstracts and proposals remains unchanged. (0196) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0006 19970717\A-0006.SOL)
