The project consists of furnishing manpower, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to performed the Design and Construction of an expansion to the Bulk Mail Center, 4900 Speaker Road, Kansas City, Kansas 66106-9728, in accordance with U S Postal Service conceptual plans and specifications. A fixed price contract will be awarded for the Design and Construction of an expansion to the existing Bulk Mail Center of approximately 40,500 gross square feet to an existing U. S. Postal Service owned property. Construction will match the existing facility which has pile foundations, sub-structure of grade beams with slab-on-grade, and steel framing superstructure with steel joints and girders. Exterior enclosure will be primarily insulated metal panels with limited insulated precast concrete panels. Roof membrane will be ballasted EPDM. Technical submittals will require evidence of: (1) Experience; (2) Management Plan; (3) Financial Capability; and (4) Organization. Time of completion is 300 calendar days after issuance of notice to proceed, to include both design and construction. This scope of work is further defined in the conceptual drawings and specifications. Construction cost is estimated to be between $4,300,000 to $4,800,000. However, a formal pre-proposal conference, and walk through is required and scheduled for July 30, 1997, at 9:00 a.m. at the facility, in the 3rd floor PEDC Conference Room.
