Service (IRS) is seeking sources who can provide
commercial-off-the-shelf products for any of the following four
systems; 1) A Simple Mail Transfer Protocal (SMTP) backbone electronic
messaging transport system with a reliable message delivery and audit
trail capabilities; 2) a backbone reliable Electronic Message Handling
System with clients and servers; 3) a Lightweight Directory Access
protocol (LDAP) System and 4) an X.500 conformant Directory Services
System. The IRS will provide all interested vendors, upon request, with
a copy of the requested specification to use in determining whether
your product meets our requirement. The IRS will base its initial
evaluation on the following criteria: 1) Conformance to specifications;
2) Level of support required 3) Platforms supported; 4) Performance
figures submitted; 5) Realizability definitions and 6) Ease of
installation. All interested vendors must submit the following
information for each system they are responding to within 60 days of
this notice: 1) Descriptivie technical literature on the products,
including information on the priducts supported platforms and operating
systems and technical architecture; 2) Statement of products commercial
availability plus current catalogs; 4) vendors amenability to loaning
the offered products to the IRS, at no cost cost, for testing, and 4)
any other pertinent documentation that will assist the IRS. Vendors
will be notified in writing, within 30 days after completion of the
evaluations/testing of the results. It is the IRS's intention to
maintain a current bidder's list for these products that will be
updated either quarterly or semi-annually. Selection for testing will
neither provide vendors with an advanatage nor preclude them from
bidding on related future procurements. At this time, there is neither
a solicitation package available nor is one anticipated in the near
