The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) requires a portable 4 channel oscilloscope with the following specifications: 1 GHz bandwidth, 1 Gigasamples/sec with 2 Megasamples of memory per channel for 4 channels; 2 Gigasamples/sec with 4 Megasamples of memory per channel for 2 channels; 4 Gigasamples/sec with 8 Megasamples of memory per channel for 1 channel; color CRT with 9" viewing area, 96 MHz PowerPC processor with 64 MBytes of RAM, advanced math package, spectrum analysis package, parameter analysis package, floppy disk drive, internal graphics printer and (4) PP005 (10:1 500 MHz) probes and (1) PP094 4 Gigasample adapter, and a disk drive measurement package with the following measurement capabilities: 1) IDEMA test standards for PW50(+/-), PW50(+), PW50(-), TAA(+/- ), TAA(+), TAA(-), RESOLUTION, and OVERWRITE with the ability to histogram any parameter. 2) PRML measurement including non- linear transition shift, autocorrelation s/n ratio, autocorrelation function. 3) Ability tofind a byte error as an offset from the beginning of the read gate.
