The Common Support Aircraft project is evaluating concepts that will
lead to the development and fielding of a weapon system or family of
weapon systems to perform the missions and functions now carried out by
the E-2, C-2, S-3, ES-3 aircraft . A replacement for these platforms is
desired to reach Initial Operational Capability in 2013. Missions will
include Airborne Early Warning, Signal Intelligence, Airborne
Surface/Subsurface Warfare, In-Flight Tanking, and Carrier On-board
Delivery . The Naval Air Systems Command is seeking trade studies to
identify cost effective proposals that will explore affordable Common
Support Aircraft concepts for initial acquisition milestone in FY98.
The Common Support Aircraft acquisition program will ultimately
encompass air vehicle development, avionics and systems integration,
test, and production/delivery. The Government is seeking a fifty-year
design platform that uses off-the-shelf systems to reduce program
development costs, vehicle procurement costs, and to optimize
operational supportability and affordability. Points of contact for
this requirement are: Ellen M. Klotz, Stacy Bostjanick and Lt. Tom
