The Naval Air Systems Command will hold a briefing for industry to provide an overview and the objectives of the Common Support Aircraft project, and the plans for the initial acquisition. This briefing will take place on Tuesday, 5 August 1997, in Room 110, Jefferson Plaza 2, 1421 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA starting at 8:30 a.m. Request pre-submission of significant questions to insure sufficient thought can be given to provide an adequate response. Written questions should be submitted to the Points Of Contact listed below. Seating is limited, therefore, participants will be limited to 3 individuals per corporation. Since access to the Naval Air Systems Command is controlled, participants are asked to arrive early to register at visitor control. Please RSVP to the Point of Contacts no later than Close of Business 1 August 1997. The Common Support Aircraft project is evaluating concepts that will lead to the development and fielding of a weapon system or family of weapon systems to perform the missions and functions now carried out by the E-2, C-2, S-3, ES-3 aircraft . A replacement for these platforms is desired to reach Initial Operational Capability in 2013. Missions will include Airborne Early Warning, Signal Intelligence, Airborne Surface/Subsurface Warfare, In-Flight Tanking, and Carrier On-board Delivery . The Naval Air Systems Command is seeking trade studies to identify cost effective proposals that will explore affordable Common Support Aircraft concepts for initial acquisition milestone in FY98. The Common Support Aircraft acquisition program will ultimately encompass air vehicle development, avionics and systems integration, test, and production/delivery. The Government is seeking a fifty-year design platform that uses off-the-shelf systems to reduce program development costs, vehicle procurement costs, and to optimize operational supportability and affordability.
