project consists of the design and construction of an expansion to the
existing Bulk Mail Center (BMC, located at 3501 West Wendover Avenue,
Greensboro, North Carolina), of approximately 50,900 net s.f./57,566
gross s.f., on existing property . Concept plan gross s.f. is 54,613.
The 50,900 net s.f. is approximately 35,900 s.f. of workroom and 15,000
s.f. of platform space. The building expansion is to be a one-story
(approximately 35' clear height to bottom of structure to match
existing height), economical, typical general mail/bulk mail center
facility post office building. Representative construction type to be:
steel framed building with insulated metal panels over concrete block
to match existing, or other type as proposed by offerors and approved
by USPS, to match the existing facade. Exterior wall construction and
finish is to match existing. Metal roof panels are to match existing.
Project is to include dock addition/renovation, CCTV and universal
wiring requirements. No fixed mechanizationis required. Scope of work
includes, but is not limited to, all trades typical to the complete
construction of a project such as site work, off site work, landscape,
foundation, concrete, steel, roofing, waterproofing, interior
finishes, millwork, signage, doors & windows, storefronts, glazing,
hardware, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, as described in the
solicitation for proposals. See site plan for location of proposed
additions, areas of selected demolition and development of new building
and parking areas. See the site requirements section of the outline
specifications. See required phasing plan as shown in the architectural
site plan to maintain postal operations during construction activities.
This scope of work is further defined in the plans and specifications.
Technical submittals will require evidence of (1) Experience; (2)
Management Plan; (3) Financial Capability; and (4) Organization. Plans
will be available July 18, 1997. Offers due August 26, 1997.
Performance time is 220 calendar days from date of Notice to Proceed.
The estimated cost range is between $3,700,000 and $4,200,000. On-site

The cost of the plans and specifications for the above project is
$100/set for Priority Mail service (2 to 3 days). For Express Mail
