Wolfe, 304/285-5883 THIS IS A COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION FOR COMMERCIAL ITEMS PREPARED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FORMAT IN SUBPART 12.6, AS SUPPLEMENTED WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION INCLUDED IN THIS NOTICE. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT CONSTITUTES THE ONLY SOLICITATION; QUOTES ARE BEING REQUESTED AND A WRITTEN SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE ISSUED. This solicitation is issued as Request for Quotation No. RQ97-028. This procurement is being issued unrestricted. The Standard Industrial Classification is 3841 with a size standard of 500 employees. This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 90-46. Furnish to the National Instititute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), 1095 Willowdale Road, Morgantown, WV one each COVERSLIPPING MACHINE WITH WALK-AWAY OPERATION such as Hacker- Meisei Model RCM-3660 Robot Coverslipping Machine, with slide counter and other accessories or a functionally equivalent machine meeting the following specifications: Machine shall duplicate hand coverslipping and yield excellent results with a wide range of tissue types; proven long-term storage capabilities; totally enclosed system with fume control; compatible with all automatic stainers; use glass coverslips of different sizes and from several different sources; coverglass placement adjustable; easy to re-coverslip; slides submerged in xylene prior to mounting to minimize drying of specimens; able to use a xylene substitute; consumables available from different sources; easy to use and maintain; demonstrated dependable service; walk-away operation; installation, on-site training and follow up. Only machines with walk-away operation, use of glass coverslips, and ability to use consumables from different sources will be considered. Hand delivery, with installation and training on delivery is desired. The Government requires delivery of this unit within 30 days after receipt of order. The Government will evaluate based on F.O.B. Destination (Morgantown, West Virginia) and the requirements at FAR 52.214.21 "Descriptive Literature" apply. Information provided must demonstrate the unit's ability to meet the specification or your offer may be rejected.
