Ries, Senior Subcontract Administrator, (406) 494-7188 The Thermal Projects Division of MSE Technology Applications, Inc. is developing a Plasma Ordinance Demilitarization System (PODS) capable of processing selected ordnance devices and specific miscellaneous wastes into acceptable gaseous exhaust and inert vitrified slag. Operation of the PODS will be facilitated through the plasma arc process. The plasma are process will provide the energy required to oxidize the organic compounds. It will also bind the metals in the waste stream into a nonleachable slag. A reduction reactor will be utilized to minimize NOx emissions from this process. The reactor will utilize anhydrous ammonia as a reducing agent. The reactor should be able to treat an inlet offgas stream of 15 lb/min with a NOx concentraction of 5000 ppmv. The reactor should be capable of reducing the NOx concentration by 90% to 95%. This is a presolicatation notice for parties capable of providing a complete NOx reduction reactor mounted on a skid to be utilized for this plasma arc system. Prospective vendors should respond within 15 days of publication of this announcement.
