Ries, Senior Subcontract Administrator (406) 494-7188 The Thermal Projects Division of MSE Technology Spplications, Inc. is developing a Plasma Ordinance Demilitarization System (PODS) capable of process selected ordnance devices and specific miscellancous wastes into acceptable gaseous exhaust and inert vitrified slag. Operation of the PODS will be facilitated through the plasma arc process. The plasma arc process will provide the energy required to oxidize the organic compounds. It will also bind the metals in the waste stream into a nonleachable slag. An electric start, diesel-fired, oxygen enriched, secondary combustion chamber (SCC) will be utilized to complete oxidization of all organic compounds. The SCC should be able to treat an inlet offgas stream of 40 lb/min. The SCC shall allow a 2 second residence time to ensure complete oxidation of all organic compound. This is a presolicitation notice for parties capable of providing a complete secondary combustion chamber to be utilized for this plasma arc system. Prospective vendors should respond within 15 days of publication of this announcement. Response to this announcement should include company experience in providing secondary combustion chambers or other emission control equipment. (0199)
