The project consists of lobby renovation which involves the demolition of the existing service lobby and box lobby in three phases. The existing finishes will be replaced with porcelain tile, carpet, retail, millwork, lay-in ceiling and metal stud/gypsum walls and furrdowns. There are storefront entrances and speciality doors. The electrical and HVAC systems will be modified according to the new floor plan. The exterior work involves punching new windows in the exterior wall and construction of a side ramp with retaining walls. The existing windows will also involve infilling with an EIFS system at the Main Post Office, McAlester, Oklahoma 74501-9998, in accordance with plans and specifications. Phasing of all work for Postal operations will be required. Estimated cost range $300,000.00-$400,000.00; and construction time is 150 calendar days. A preproposal conference is scheduled for Wednesday, August 6, 1997 at 9:30 am at the job site, Washington at Fifth, McAlester, OK 74501-9998. All interested contractors are urged to attend. NOTE: This project will be awarded prior to September 15, 1997, but construction will not be started until after January 5, 1998. A 20% proposal bond is required. The successful contractor will be required to provide 100% Performance and 50% Payment Bonds within forty-eight (48) hours after notification of award. Successful offeror must submit their Subcontracting Plan for Small and Minority-Owned and Woman-Owned Business initially and thereafter with their progress payments. The contractor shall subcontract with minority business firms in an amount aggregating not less than 10% of the total value of its subcontracts. Offers will be received in this office, prior to, but not later than 3:30 p.m. on August 25, 1997. This is a request for proposals, therefore, no public opening will be conducted. The number of offers received, the identity of the offerors, the amount of any one offer, or relative standing of offeror will not be disclosed to anyone until after award of a contract is made and the request is submitted in writing.
