COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 23,1997 PSA#1893

INFORMATION TO OFFERORS As a matter of policy, the Office of Job Corps encourages competition and seeks to afford the opportunity to compete for contracts to operate Job Corps centers, and/or to provide outreach/adminission and placement services, to as many new potential offerors as possible, hereafter referred to as "Firms". To that end, the Office of Job Corps has developed a multi-step process for keeping the contractor community informed and involved in the Job Corps program. Following is a brief description of this multi-step process. 1) The National Director and the 9 Regional Directors/Contracting Officers are available and open to discussions regarding program content and the procurement process. To arrange an appointment, interested firms may reach the offices at the following phone numbers: Albert Glastetter (Boston) (617) 565-2166, Stanley Belza (New York) (212) 337-2281, James Bodnar (Philadelphia) (215) 596-6301, Melvin Collins (Atlanta) (404) 562-2372, Richard Trigg (Chicago) (312) 353-1311, Jose de Olivares (Dallas) (214) 767-2567, John Douglas (Kansas City, Mo./Denver) (816) 426-3661, Jackie Roberts (San Francisco) (415) 975-4680, and Pat Putnins Seattle) (206) 553-7938. 2) An orientation session for Firms with the capability to operate a Job Corps center (SIC 8744) and/or to provide outreach/admission and placement services (SIC 8331) will be held periodically. The session will cover Job Corps' program content, the procurement process, and may include a tour of a local Job Corps center. The fifth annual orientation session will be held from August 11-15, 1997 in Washington, D.C. All participants must register in advance and slots per organization may be limited. All requests to receive these materials must be made to Sandra Darden, Office of Job Corps, 200 Constitution Ave, N.W., Room N-4656, Washington, D.C. 20210. Requests to remain on the mailing list must be reconfirmed by June 30 of each succeeding year. 4) During each competitive procurement cycle for center operations, pre-proposal conferences are held which include detailed tours of the center under competition.
