CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT: NAVAL LOGISTICS CONFERENCE, 19-21 OCTOBER, 1998 Start planning now to attend the all-new NAVAL LOGISTICS CONFERENCE, cosponsored by the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (Logistics) and the Marine Corps Deputy Chief of Staff for Installations and Logistics. Conference dates are 19-21 October 1998 at the Crystal City Hyatt-Regency Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. This conference will be held biennially...alternating with the Naval Logistics War Games (Newport RI). This conference replaces all present logistics conferences, including the joint NAVSEA/NAVSUP/ASNE Logistics Symposium (held alternatively in Mechanicsburg, PA and San Diego, CA) and the NAVAIR Engineering/Supportability Conference (held in Arlington, VA). This symposium and exhibition provides the opportunity for us to come together for discussions on a broad range of professional and career issues of interest and concern to the Naval Logistics Community. It is a forum to address present issues and work together to present innovative solutions to tomorrow's logistics challenges. The Theme for the 1998 conference will be "Positioning Naval Logistics for the 21st Century." The symposium will have four general tracks: 1. Operational Logistics, 2. Facilities/Depot/Ashore Logistics, 3. Acquisition Logistics, and 4. Information Technology -- CALS/EC/EDI. The American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE) and SOLE -- the International Society of Logistics will cosponsor a Government/Industry exhibition, in cooperation with the technical conference. This announcement, the first of several, is to assist you in planning for this symposium and exhibition, to solicit ideas and to obtain an expression of interest for specific topics, papers, and speakers.
