Gemini Telescopes Project is seeking a qualified firm to fabricate and
machine two steel M1 Wash Cart Base Assemblies for use in the two
Gemini observatories. Each M1 Wash Cart Base Assembly will be comprised
of a number of welded steel components, with some machined surfaces,
and will weigh approximately 11 metric tons. Prices will be requested
for both 304 stainless steel and A36 steel. The Gemini 8-m Telescopes
Project is an international collaboration to build two 8-meter
telescopes, one to be located on Mauna Kea in Hawaii, the other to be
located on Cerro Pachon in Chile. The Gemini project partners include
the USA, United Kingdom, Canada, Argentina, and Brazil. The Gemini
project is operated by the Association of Universities for Research in
Astronomy, Inc. (AURA) under contract to the National Science
Foundation. Companies that are interested in receiving the Invitation
