The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is considering the issuance of a Request for Proposal that will solicit the services of a telecommunications company to provide pay telephone service on all property owned or controlled by WMATA. WMATA is an interstate transportation partnership providing bus and rail service to the Washington, DC metropolitan area. There are currently 1,081 pay telephones in Metro stations, bus terminals, bus and rail maintenance facilities and administrative buildings.
