(NRC) intends to award a contract to Battelle Memorial Institute,
Columbus, Ohio as a result of an unsolicited proposal. The contract
will develop and experimentally validate methods for predicting the
fracture behavior of cracked nuclear reactor piping subject to both
normal operating and accident loads. Battelle will also provide unique
facilities to perform this work. This work is the continuation of work
previously performed by Battelle researchers, in cooperation with NRC
and the members of the International Piping Integrity Research Group
