R -- LIBRARY MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORT SERVICES DUE 081397 POC Frances I Toole (301) 457-1831 The Bureau of the Census (BOC) wishes to identify potential 8(a) contractors that specialize in providing Library Management Services. Performance would be on site at the BOC facility in Suitland, Maryland. Interested parties are requested to provide information in the format described in the latter part of this announcement which demonstrates the contractor's ability to provide the services described herein. These services include, but may not be limited to, the following: 1) Resource Development -- the selection of current and retrospective materials to satisfy the informational needs and research requirements of requesters, 2) Resource Control and Property Management -- providing the primary access point for information resources by furnishing exposure to materials and collections worldwide and maintaining continuity and standardization of catalog records and database quality control, 3) Control and Maintenance of Archival Collections -- providing central access and general preservation forspecial collection material which must be preserved, 4) Serial Procurement and Control -- maintaining and controlling a serial/periodical collection consisting of periodicals, annuals, looseleaf services, journals, abstracts, indexes, proceedings, conferences, books with periodic updates, and CD- Roms, 5) Resource Tracking and Patron Registration -- Circulation -- monitoring manual and automated circulation systems, performing database maintenance, and providing information management services 6) Inquiry Services -- fulfilling information collection and dissemination requests, 7) Outreach Programs -- preparing promotional products and conducting seminars, training sessions, and customized services to expand the library user base, and 8) Systems Maintenance -- monitoring passwords, log-on procedures and protocols for various automated library storage and retrieval systems. Interested parties are requested to provide a capability statement which does not exceed ten (10) pages which demonstrates their capability to provide these services.
