Washington, DC 20024 66 -- LOW ENERGY, LOW BACKGROUND GERMANIUM DETECTOR SOL 97-7 DUE
081297 POC Rodney P. Magee, Contracting Officer, (202)260-6455 E-MAIL:
Rodney Magee, Contracting Officer, Magee.Rodney@epamail.epa.gov. The
Environmental Protection Agency has a requirement for a Low Energy, Low
Background Germanium Dectector. The detector must meet or exceed the
following characteristics: 1) The detector is of a demonstrated model
with reliable history of operations. It is not a "prototype" device; 2)
The detector has a thin beryllium window of 0.5 mm thickness, and is
configured in an upward position with a vertical dipstick cryostat; 3)
It has a 30 liter liquidd nitrogen dewar; 4) It has a germanium
crystal face area of at least 3800 mm2; It has a FWHM resolution of no
more than 475eV @ 5.9keV and 750eV @ 122 keV; 5) The FWTM resolution
is less than or equal to twice the FWHM resolution; 6) The cryostat is
constructed of ultra-low background materials to meet or exceed
standards of the Canberra Industries ULB-GL cryostat hardware; 7) The
detector includes a low-backgroudn collar attachment to prevent photo
streaming from the outside environment that meets or exceeds the
standards of the Canberra Industries RDC4 Remote Detector Chamber; 8)
The detector preamp includes an exterior LED to warn of current leakage
due to insufficient cooling. Simplified Acquisition Procedures will be
utilized in selecting qualified vendors. Written inquiries may be
