The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism intends to negotiate a three year contract with Porter Novelli, Inc. for a project entitled "Alcohol Etiology and Mechanisms Research Dissemination Campaign". The proposed contract will support the Institute in the release and dissemination of information expected to pinpoint candidate genes believed to be responsible for that portion of alcoholism risk that is genetic, elucidate neurochemical mechanisms of alcohol dependence, and suggest environmental influences that trigger alcoholism development. Porter Novelli will serve as the sole source of strategic support for: planning, research, and message development; resources/materials development; media outreach; events management and outcome evaluation; and, secondary dissemination/long-term public education strategy. Authority: 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1. Porter Novelli is the only responsible source possessing the requisite skills and experience in health promotion and research dissemination necessary to complete this project.
