427-1331 Request written quotation to perform historic, architectural
and archeological survey of Columbia State Historic Park, California
and prepare National Historic Landmark form for the Columbia Historic
District. The Park consists of approximately 250 acres and includes 150
structures. In addition, there are significant mining features and
historic archeological remains within the boundaries of the Park. The
Park includes a number of reconstructed buildings and there are
significant integrity issues that must be addressed in the NHL
documentation. Anticipated award date is 9/30/97. Award of order shall
be made on the basis of "best value" using the following criteria: (1)
Demonstrated experience in conducting historical research and analysis
of mining properties using professional research methods and
standards; knowledge of repositories of historical data and sources of
information about Columbia, California gold mining and other relevant
data; experience in producing professional, well-documented historical
reports. (2) Demonstrated experience in identifying, recording and
interpreting historic archeological remains associated with mining. (3)
Demonstrated experience in identifying, analyzing and describing
historic buildings and structures; ability to assess and evaluate
integrity of historic buildings and structures; ability to analyze the
evolution and alterations over time of a building, structure, site and
district; ability to produce thorough written building descriptions
using generally-accepted architectural terminology. (4) Demonstrated
experience in preparing successful National Register nomination forms
for complex properties that integrate historical, architectural and/or
archeological resources and contexts. The project team must include a
historian meeting the professional qualifications standards of 36 CFR
