questions about this procurement. The NRC proposes to enter into a sole
source purchase order with the Johns Hopkins University for use of the
Morton K. Blaustein Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences
Microbeam Facility. These facilities are required to aid an NRC
employee conducing a research effort entitled "Characterization of
Radioactive and Archaeological Slags" at the JHU through an
Intergovernmental personnel assignment. The Microbeam facility is
required to analyze samples of SEM, EMPA, and TEM techniques in order
to study the physical and chemical characteristics of samples from SDMP
and archaeological slag sites. The period of performance is 15 months.
The size standard for this solicitation is average annual receipts of
$3.5 over the past three years, as set forth under Standard Industrial
Classification 8733. This is a notice of intent to contract only. A
solicitation document does not exist. Interested parties should submit
written technical documentation demonstrating their ability to provide
the facilities specifiedto the NRC. Telephonic responses and responses
providing insufficient information for evaluation will not be
