The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Storm Prediction Center (SPC) requires three data collection platforms for use with the GOES-8, GOES-9 and an on-hand spare. The GOES-8 and GOES-9 data collection platform systems need to be complete with software and license. The spare shall be complete minus software and license. The SPC has an Antenna, and related assemblies for the current GOES-8 system and is acquiring a second system for the GOES-9. The output from this system consists of a bit stream and clock. The data collection platforms must be able to use this clock and data stream to capture format and make available the GVAR image in the McIDAS data format. The McIDAS data format is defined by the University of Wisconsin Space Science Engineering Center and is the format used by all NCEP Interactive Satellite Display Systems. Information relating to the specific electrical interface and data format are available. The equipment will be exposed to dusty conditions much like a 'field shack'. Due to the harsh environment, the platform must be PC based and afford quick and economical replacement parts as needed. It is not the intent of the Government to issue a separate solicitation for this requirement. Interested sources proposing to supply equivalent items must submit a written qualification statement by fax, clearly establishing capability to meet the above requirements within 15 days from the date of this synopsis.
