The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland, requires the renovation of multiple environmental chambers, in Building 226. The contract work involves: the demolition and removal of the existing air-handlers serving two (2) low temperature environmental chambers, the purchase and installation of new air-handlers for each environmental chamber; the construction of a 1,000 square foot mechanical equipment room to house the air-handlers; the removal of a brine refrigerant loop from the existing cascade refrigerant system; the purchase and installation of a chiller unit for the brine, and the installation of a Direct Digital Control (D.D.C.) system to handle the implementation and monitoring of the chambers. The requirement also calls for an option for the renovation of three (3) smaller environmental chambers. The option work includes removal of the brine refrigerant loop from the existing cascade refrigerant system, the purchase and installation of a chiller unit forthe brine; and the minor repair of three (3) existing air-handler units serving the smaller chambers. -- The period of performance for this requirement, including the option, if exercised, is fifteen months after receipt of the Notice to Proceed. -- The magnitude of construction is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. -- Please request solicitations in writing -- See Numbered Notes 1 and 26.****** (0209)
