COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 30,1997 PSA#1898Navy Public Works Center, Contracts Department, Building 175,
Washington Navy Yard, 901 M. St. SE, Washington, DC 20374-5095 Z -- DESING/CONSTRUCT HYDRAULIC ELEVATOR TO 2ND FLOOR, OPTION TO
RENOVATE RESTROOMS AND TONE DOWN EXISTING ENTRANCE SOL N68925-95-R-A906
DUE 091597 POC Ms. Brenda Geist, Contract Specialist (202)682-8210 or
Ms. Sharon J. Cusic, Contracting Officer, (202)685-8221 This work
includes the design and construction of a new two (2) stop roped
hydraulic, 25000 lbs. capacity, 125 RFM elevator, monumental staircase
first and second floor lobbies, a second floor storage room, and
pedestrian handicap accessible entrance to Building W-112. Two
construction options are also included: They are complete renovation of
the men's and women's toilet facilities (Option 1). Option 2 consists
of "toning down" of the existing entrance to the second floor on the
north-east side of B-112 to an emergency exit. Work on optional toilet
facilities to be completed in two phases, so at least half of the
facilities remain operational during the entire construction period.
Restroom downtime shall be kept to a minimum with construction time per
phase not to exceed 30 days. The second floor of B-112 will be used by
the User on occasion for the performance of ceremonies during the
construction period. These ceremonies require the use of the fire
escape as a means of egress. Removal of this stair, which is required
for the construction of the entrance to the building on the first
floor, needs to be thoroughly coordinated with the Government and the
User. Temporary egress arrangements may need to be provided to allow
use of the main hall on the second floor until the new stair and
elevator are operational. During ceremonies which can be expected as
often as twice a month, and which last for approximately 3 to 4 hours,
the contractor will not be allowed to produce noise associated with
construction operations. NSW SCE understands that a portion of the
second floor west end will be out of use for approximately one year.
This area will be partitioned off during construction. The estimated
cost range is between #250,001 and $500,000. A firm fixed price type
contract is anticipated with a base phase and two optional phases. The
Standard Industrial Code is 1796. The related Small Business Size
Standard is $7 million. The date of issuance of the solicitation is on
or about 12 AUG 97. A site visit/pre-proposalconference is anticipated
on or about 30 AUG 97. Interested parties are to submit a written
request for a copy of the solicitation (N68925-95-R-A906) to Ms. Brenda
Geist, facsimile (202)685-8236 or it may be picked up in person from
Building 166, 1st Floor, Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC. There is
no charge for plans and specs. Only one set per firm. Telephone
inquiries will not be honored. (0209) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0217 19970730\Z-0056.SOL)
