B -- The Minerals Management Service intends to provide funding to Ecological Consulting, Inc.(ECI) to update, improve and expand the existing "Marine Mammal and Seabird Computer Database Analysis System" (MMS-CDAS). This project continues MMS-supported research on the distribution and abundance of marine mammals and seabirds in the Pacific OCS Region. This purchase order will enhance the Region's ability to collect field data on the distribution and abundance of marine mammals and seabirds and on the movements of oil spills, through the acquisition of a real-time data entry sytem (dLOG). ECI has sole access to extensive California data sets that should be included in the database and they are the sole owner of the software program CAMRIS, which is needed to graphically display the output of the MMS-CDAS system and of dLOG needed for real-time data entry.
