C -- SOUTH POLE STATION -- NEW POWER PLANT ENGINE GENERATORS, SWITCHGEAR AND ACCESSORIES SOL n/a DUE 080897 POC Michael Jackson, Subcontracts Administrator (This is a modification to the notice placed on 21 July 1997). Antarctic Support Associates (ASA), under a prime contract with the National Science Foundation, has a requirement to provide the following in support of the United States Antarctic Program: (1) three each Base Load Engine Generator with a capacity of 1,025 kW at sea level and 797 kW at the South Pole Station. The engine generator units shall be 277/480 volt prime-power rated, operate at 1200 rpm and be configured to burn AN-8 fuel at an altitude of 12,000 feet, complete with the following accessories: individual skid mounting, jacket water cooling, battery starter, fuel filters, engine driven fuel pump, integral jacket water cooled turbocharger aftercooler, engine driven coolant pump and external jacket water cooling connection, dry exhaust manifold and engine axhaust connection, high volume oil pan, dual engine oil filter assembly for on-line filter changes, crankcase ventilation filter and recirculation assembly; (2) Provisions for one each Peak Load Engine Generator with a capacity of 300 kW at an altitude of 12,000 feet; (3) Generator Switchgear including Control Units for the baase load and peak load engine generators which includes controls and instrumentation for monitoring electrical performance, alarm monitoring light and annunciators, Master Generator Control Panel which includes the controls, sensors, instrumentation, motorized circuit breakers, synchronizing bus, output breakers and other components to provide inter-operation and control of the individual generator switchgear, 2,000 Amp Preferred Main Distribution Equipment Panel and Redundant Main Distribution Equipment Panel; (4) Residential Type Silencers for the Engines; (5) Exhaust Heat Recovery Silencers for the Engines; (6) Remote Radiator with Radiator Fan for each of the Engines. Letters of Interest are requested for manufacture, fabrication and testing of the Engine-Generator/Switchgear Packages, for installation by ASA at the South Pole Station. Include with the letter the company qualification(s) for providing the above. ASA is contemplating the acquisition of the Engine Generator Packages in FY 97.
