Wolfe, 304/285-5883 The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) intends to negotiate a sole-source purchase with B&B Microscopes, Warrendale, PA to provide a multi-component upgrade for a photo microscope/image system. The existing system was purchased on a GSA contract and these upgrades are essential to adapting the equipment to include the production of photomicrographs and digital images which is essential to ALOSH research. The open market items, U-photo 3 camera photo upgrade with autofocus upgrade capability (7-UA210), second camera adapter (TV-2ndcam), darkfield fiber optic illuminator (DF-FBRIM), and U-plan APO 60x dry/.95/WD 0.10 objective (l-UB831), are a small part of the completed system and are the only items known to be compatible with the existing equipment so that a functional photomicroscopy system is developed which meets the Government research needs. Other items included with the total upgrade are available through a GSA contract. Vendors having the capabilities necessary to meet the stated requirments are invited to submit appropriate documentation, literature, brochures and references. If no organizations respond and demonstrate their capability to provide upgrades comparable to those described above within 15 days after publication of this notice, the Government will proceed with award to B& B Microscopes.
