The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with HITCO Technologies, Inc., 1600 West 135th Street, Gardena CA for the continued development and fabrication of candidate replacement heatshield materials for the Mk4 and Mk5 Strategic Systems Reentry Bodies. HITCO has recently fabricated carbon-phenolic heatshield materials being jointly developed under the Strategic Missile and Spacecraft Materials Technology Project, and the Reentry Systems Applications program for Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile reentry systems. The continued development and fabrication of these materials by HITCO is required such that the property database on these materials can be expanded. This is a follow-on Research and Development effort to NSWCDD Contract N60921-95-C-0023. CBD Note 22 applies. (0212)
