National Forest anticipates contracting for the rental of equipment
with operator for the Smoke Hole Recreation Area Dredging, Forest Road
No. 810, Cheat/Potomac Ranger District, Pendleton County, West
Virginia. The project can be reached by traveling US Rt 220 and State
Secondary Rt 2, 16.3 miles north of Franklin, WV; 4.3 miles north of
Upper Tract, WV; or 12.3 miles south of Petersburg, WV. The work
consists of removing 4,000 cubic yards of cobble material deposited in
the South Branch of the Potomac River underneath the low water bridge
as well as approximately 150 feet upstream and 300 feet downstream
from the low water bridge. Material will be placed in a disposal area
within 1000 feet from the project. The equipment will not be operated
in the waterway. The required equipment includes one (1) excavator
(JD790, 225 Cat, or equal) for 150 hours, two (2) triaxle dump trucks
for 100 hours each, and one (1) dozer (D5 Cat or equal) for 100 hours.
The Department of Labor Wage Rates of $11.46 + $.90 applies to the
Heavy Equipment Operators and $10.69 + $.90 applies to the Triaxle
Operators. Work will be started immediately and will include work on
weekends and in excess of 40 hours per week. Oral quotations will be
received in the above office until 4:45 PM on August 25, 1997. The
project is a Total Small Business Set-Aside. All responsible sources
