R -- PROVIDE RESOURCES FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONS STUDENTS TO SERVE HOMELESS CLIENTS SOL HRSA-97-BPHC-C98645 DUE 081897 POC Aileen Broider-301-443-5231 The Health Resources and Services Administration intends to negotiate on a SOLE SOURCE basis with the American Medical Student Foundation, 1902 Association Drive, Reston, VA, 20191-1502. This procurement shall be processed in accordance with the Simplified Acquisition Procedures in Part 13 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations. The purpose of this procurement is to (1) provide multiple resources that will enable health professions students who have a desire to serve homeless clients to identify clinics and other sites in need of their skills and talents; and (2) strengthen linkages and communication among health professions students interested in serving homeless clients and organizations serving homeless clients. The contractor shall: develop a workplan for obtaining necessary bakground information as needed for publications, assemble an advisory panel to facilitate the production of the publications, develop and distribute a manual detailing how to plan rotations and/or electives in Health Care for the Homeless Projects/Grantees, develop and distribute a "how to" module on how to establish a student-run homeless clinic, work with appropirate organizations to develop and distribute the publications, prepare progress reports, and develop written recommendations for involving health professions students in future projects or programs for homeless clients. The American Medical Student Foundation is deemed the only responsible source capable of providing the required work and services. The period of performance is ten months.
