Rothe is researching = the market for availability of vendors to provide a Laser Machining = System to support the research, development, and fabrication of = miniature parts, components, assemblies and spacecraft. The system = should perform to the following requirements: (1) Laser Type: Nd YAG; = (2) Beam Delivery System: Fiber optic and the ability to add direct = beam capability at a later date. System should be readily switchable = between fiber or beam delivery; (3) Power Input: 208 Volt, 3-phase, 60 = Hertz, 15kVA; (4) Operations: Weld, cut and drill a minimum of 1/32 = inch thick materials: (5)Materials: Titanium, nickel and chromium = steel, and aluminum alloys (e.g. Ti6Al4V, Stainless Steel 304L, Custom = 455, Iconel 718, MP35N, Al 6061, Al 6063); (6) Control and = Communications: CNC and DNC capaable and commandable using PTC = Pro/Welding and Pro/Manufacturing files; (7) Output Power: 150 Watt = minimum; (8) Operational Environment: Class I enclosure to allow a = "shirtsleeve" working environment; (9) Part Dimensions: Shall be = capableof laser machining on parts as large as a 6X9X12 inch envelope; = (10) Controllable Axes: The system shall be cpapble of 5-axis = positioning with simultaneous interpolation of all axes; (11) Axes = Repeatability: Linear axis shall be 0.0005 inches or better. Rotary = axis shall be 0.01 degree or better; (12) Cooling: If necessary, the = unit shall be cooled via chiller or similar supplied device; (13) = Component Alignment: Shall be verifiable using a CCD camera and = monitor; (14) Typical Uses: Tube to tube type butt welds, assembly = welding, spot welds, electronic component welding, feature machining, = drilling, and cutting.
