COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 5,1997 PSA#1902Social Security Administration, Office of Acquisition and Grants, 1710
Gwynn Oak Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21207-0696 70 -- ANALYTICAL MODELING PACKAGE SOL NA DUE 081897 POC Madeline Y.
Tims Tel: 410-965-9488 The Social Security Administration (SSA) is
attempting to identify firms that can provide an analytical modeling
package to model its Headquarters' data center. The Headquarters Data
Center soon will contain: One (1) -- Hitachi Data Systems (HDS)
Skyline-72 (702 millions of instructions per second (MIPS)) and five
(5) -- HDS GX- 8824s (390 MIPS each), for a total of 2,652 MIPS with
approximately nine (9) terabytes of direct access storage devices
(DASD) attached. The analytical modeling package should process the
following: (1) Resource Measurement Facility (RMF) and System
Management Facility (SMF) data to build the model; (2) support workload
balancing; (3) workload growth; (4) logical partition (LPAR) tuning;
(5) input/output (I/O) subsystem modeling; (6) memory modeling and; (7)
performance problem identification and solution testing. Software
maintenance is also required. The six (6) physical HDS machines
described above contain over twenty multiple virtual storage (MVS)
logical partitions in six (6) separate Job Entry System (JES)
complexes. An acceptable modeling package must model the above physical
and logical environment as a single entity and display the shared
computer processing unit (CPU) and shared DASD effects. The modeling
package must have the capability of reporting on the entire data center
level as well as the physical and logical systems levels. The responses
must clearly state the ability to provide an analytical modeling
package capable of satisfying the above stated requirements. THIS IS A
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. Firms possessing the capability to
furnish the above software and software maintenance are invited to
submit complete information discussing such capabilities; i.e.,
descriptive literature/brochures, and, if applicable, GSA Schedules.
The information respondents provide shall pertain to this synopsis
only. Cross-referencing to material previously submitted will not be
acceptable. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the
evaluation of the source data received. No cost or pricing data is
required or requested. No contract award will be made on the basis of
the information solicited or received. This is not a request for
proposal and requests for copies of a solicitation will not be honored
or acknowledged. Interested parties must respond in writing within 15
calendar days from the date of this publication and refer to AMP/Tims.
