872-2867, Contracting Officer. Construction of a 100' long, two lane
prestressed concrete bridge with a pedestrian walkway. The bridge is on
the Skokomish Indian Reservation in Mason County, WA. In addition to
the bridge, the work consists of 10-12 3/4" diameter concrete filled
steel piles, 539' of remedial roadbed alignment with asphalt paving,
survey/construction staking, clearing, riprap signs, striping, seeding,
mulching and demolition and transportation of existing bridge. --
Solicitation No. R97-04 -- Project No. SKIR 43130 -- bid opening
September 24, 1997, at 2:30 p.m. -- duration of work 120 calendar days
-- estimated cost range of project is $250,000.00-$500,000.00-Section
7(b) of P.L. 93-638 (25 USC 450e) and DIAR 1452-204-71 requires that
preference opportunities in employment and training be given to
Indian/Alaska Native individuals and that preference in the award of
subcontracts be given to Indian/Alaska Native economic enterprises.
Failure by the contractor to submit a plan for doing so prior to award
and implement same after award ~shall be sufficient reason for
non-award or termination of the contract for default -- an
Indian/Alaska Native economic enterprise need only be 51 percent
Indian/Alaska Native owned to qualify for subcontract preference.
