mday@loc.gov. The Library of Congress is requesting information
describing currently available, or soon to be available, high capacity,
high performance storage management software which includes
backup/recovery, archive/retrieve, and hierarchical storage management
functions and is configurable for use with multiple IBM RS/6000 AIX
based servers. Software must be compatible with RS/6000 SP environment
and AIX 4.2 or higher. Information is requested for those software
products that scale in capacity from one terabyte of data storage up to
multiple pedabytes of data storage. The information provided should
detail fully the software's supported server host specifications and
requirements; supported clients and their specifications and
requirements; minimum and maximum data storage capacities and all
applicable scaling paths; network connection capabilities; data
migration and caching mechanism features; built in continuous operation
high availabilty features; storage pool specifications; supported
storage and robotic library devices utilizing SCSI and/or fiber host
connection; administrative tools and utilities -- including scheduling
functions, reporting tools for evaluating effectiveness of
implementation, for monitoring day to day operations, for monitoring
storage allocation and utilization, disaster recovery support, and
forecasting; and all related costs. The information provided should
also include an estimated cost or copy of a published price list of the
proposed system. If applicable, GSA Schedule contract should be
provided. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION and is considered to be
Market Research. The intent of this sources sought synopsis is to
determine if any sources exist, therefore, no RFP is available.
Consequently, any responses failing to provide the aforementioned data
but instead submit a routine letter requesting a copy of the RFP will
be ignored. Written responses must be received by September 15, 1997.
