C -- A/E SERVICES FIRE ALARM SYSTEM SOL 663-67-97 DUE 090397 POC Richard Bedwell, Contracting Officer, 253-589-4027, Duane Allen, Project Engineer, 253-582-8440x6075, Ed Boogerets, Engineer 206-74-2031 Provide all A/E design services necessary to develop bid ready construction documents for the replacement of the existing fire alarm system at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, American Lake Division. This division is a campus style medical center with 25+ buildings spread over 75 acres. Building occupancies range from healthcare to residential. The new fire alarm system is to be a state of the art addressable system that will incorporate smoke detectors, heat detectors, all devices that are part of fire sprinkler systems and any other fire alarm devices that are required by code. All existing devices will be replaced as necessary. The A/E services will include schematic design, design development, construction document development, cost estimating and construction period services. The A/E must be familiar with all applicable NFPA codes. Familiarity with VA requirements is a plus. The A/E should be able to show extensive prior experience in the design of fire alarm systems. References to support this experience should be included along with the standard government 254 and 255 forms in the A/E qualification documentation.
