The project consists of the construction of a new Post Office containing approximately 19,622 square feet. The building consists of a one-story steel structure with pier and beam slab on select fill and exterior skin composed of structural insulated panels (agricultural fiber board), material; studs, stone veneer and stucco. There will be metal canopies with metal soffits over the carrier and mail platforms. Other features include a native planting area, workroom skylights and a roof rainwater harvesting system which will supplement the irrigation needs of the site and planting beds. Landscaping is based on xeriscaping concepts and paving includes portland cement pervious pavements accented with concrete pavers. Interior finishes include, painted gypsum board, suspended acoustical tile, gypsum board ceilings, skylights, carpet, ceramic and porcelain tile. This is a "green" building and will include recycled and environmentally sound materials. This recycled theme will be important for construction and disposal of project materials. The site is located near the intersection of Eighth Avenue and West Cantey just north of the Winn Dixie store in Fort Worth. Estimated cost range $1,800,000.00-$2,000,000.00 and construction time is 240 calendar days. Successful offeror must submit their Subcontracting Plan for Small and Minority-Owned, and Woman-Owned Business initially and thereafter with their progress payment requests. The contractor must subcontract with minority business firms in an amount aggregating not less than 10% of the total value of its subcontracts. A 20% proposal bond is required on all proposals. The successful contractor will be required to provide 100% Performance and 50% Payment Bonds within forty-eight (48) hours after notification of award. Offers will be received in this office, prior to, but not later than 3:30 p.m. on September 16, 1997. Proposal documents, plans and specifications will be available on August 13, 1997 at a cost of $130.00 per set (NON-REFUNDABLE) payable by check or money order only. The number of offers received, the identity of the offerors, the amount of any one offer, or relative standing of offeror will not be disclosed to anyone until after award of a contract is made and the request is submitted in writing.
