Station, Bldg 2272, Lexington Park, MD 20670 J -- P-3C AIRCRAFT PHASED DEPOT MAINTENANCE (PDM) SOL N00019-96-D-0166
POC Lori Redding, AIR-2.3.2.2.2, (301) 757-5249 E-MAIL:
reddingla.jfk@navair.navy.mil, reddingla.jfk@navair.navy.mil. The Naval
Air Systems Command intends to extend the period of performance of
contract N00019-96-D-0166 with Lockheed Martin Aircraft Center,
Greenville, South Carolina, to accomodate additional aircraft
inductions for P-3 Phase I Depot Maintenance (PDM). This contract
extension will cover aircraft inductions during the first quarter of
fiscal year 1998. Provisions will be made for up to ten aircraft to be
inducted during the this period. The Naval Air Systems Command has
issued a competitive Request For Proposals N00019-97-R-0022 for depot
maintenance Phases I, II and III for the P-3 Aircraft. A contract is
expected to be awarded by 1 Nov 97, with the first aircraft being
inducted on 1 Jan 98. The current contract only allows aircraft
inductions through 30 Sep 97. Therefore, it is necessary for the Navy
to extend the current contract by three months to avoid fleet readiness
risk, and the impact of losing an estimated ten PDM slots during FY98.
Lockheed Martin Aircraft Center is the only known Contractor with the
necessary support equipment, technical data, manuals and production
line with the capability to perform the required inductions and PDMs in
the time frame required. See Note 22. (0217) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0055 19970807\J-0009.SOL)
